Our Impact

Williamson County General Sessions Court Judge Denise Andre recognized that traditional approaches to sentencing are inadequate to address the addictive behaviors demonstrated by those who have a continued pattern of DUI offenses. In response, she started DUI Recovery Court in 2010 to give those affected by substance use disorders an opportunity to overcome their cycle of abuse and involvement in the justice system.

Most importantly, Judge Andre also realized that successful recovery is the genesis for a participant to discover their true self, self-worth, and self-love. With these in-hand, a DUI Recovery Court graduate is free from the bondage of addiction to achieve their goals and dreams.

Now, nine years later, DUI Recovery Court is serving more people and providing more services to participants than ever with extraordinary success.

Our Stories

I have released my old self and begun my true self. I couldn’t be more excited to bring to the world what I was put here to bring. I am ready to start the life I was always meant to live.

I never knew who I was as a person and never felt like I was good enough to deserve a good life. I don’t feel that way at all any more. I have pride and a strong feeling of self worth.

-DUI Recovery Court Graduate

DUI Court has provided the structure, accountability, and support I so desperately needed to escape the bondage of addiction.

I can honestly say today that I can look in the mirror and like the person staring back at me. That is something I couldn’t say a year ago.
